Write this or another life empowering incantation beautifully while burning white and gold candles. Use materials which mean something to you and write it during a waxing moon. This is when positive magick (magick asking for things to come into and not out of your life) is most powerful. Harnessing the power of the Sun or Jupiter by performing the spell on a Sunday or Thursday can also add potency. Ask for and thank any spirits, energies, planets etc for their help and protection. Place the incantation in a space where it is most needed in your home. Mine is in a previously dark corner of a study area in the centre of my home. It is written on glass to reflect light back into the space. (AZ)

A recipe just for joy and awakenings is shared below. I personally think Ms. Rowling got it spot on when she wrote that chocolate is the best remedy for after a dementor attack. Well done that woman!


Maya’s dark promise: (adapt at will)
You'll need:

• 6 - 8 chunks of maya gold chocolate or similar (dark & lightly spicy 'Green & Black's is organic and fair trade)
• 1 teaspoon of runny honey or homemade flower syrup - vegan (rose, lavender, clover, violet all good)
• a handfull of large juicy black seedless grapes
• enough english apple juice to make a liquid constancy of choice

To make:

• melt the chocolate in bowl over pan of simmering water
• blend chocolate with grapes and honey (or flower syrup)
• add to apple juice and leave to cool
• add a slice of apple to each glass and an optional sprig of fresh mint
• thank the divine energies for your share in their fruitfulness & the hands that grew, harvested and bought the food to your table.

A spell for banishment and letting go:

At the time of the waning moon visit the sea. Stand as close to the water's edge at ebbing tide as possible whilst remaining safe. This is esspecially beneficial when a north wind blows. Have with you a gift for the mari (sea mother) and spirits. A stone or charcoal is good. Have about your person too an athame or wand if you find these helpful. They can be used to draw any symbols or words in the water, sands or earth should you wish. Then again your mind or hand can do the same. They do not have to be master works, just something that represents what you wish to let go of. The words below or your own version of them will help you after you have first asked Goddess, God and spirits for their help and protection. When you have finished burry the stone or charcoal or give it to the sea. You can do this at home with a bowl of water and seasalt. Make sure, however, that you do not burry this within the boundaries of your own land or what you seek to pass may never quite leave you.

‘North wind blows and she blows cold;
The ebbing tide; the changing road
Now’s time to thank and lift the load,
Now welcomes tides for letting go,
Now is the time for letting go,
I give the north wind what is past
For pain is never meant to last
I thank her and the ebbing tide
For giving me this transient time.’

A shortened and far easier to recall version is simply:
